Working at ALFA

Entry level positions are available for all shifts at our residential homes and day programs in Oak Ridge, Jefferson, West Milford and Butler, NJ. Experience is preferred but not required.


ALFA prides itself on promoting employees from within, with the management teams at each of our current programs starting with us as Direct Support Professionals. As a growing agency, however, we may occasionally have positions available for Program Managers and Assistant Managers. These positions require strong experience in serving people with developmental disabilities coupled with excellent supervisory and people management skills.


All positions require a valid NJ drivers License (geographically local NY license is acceptable) and high school diploma or GED. Potential employees will be required to pass a State and Federal criminal background check/ submit to fingerprinting. Post job offer. A pre-employment physical and drug screen is also required.

Job Description: We are looking for energetic people willing to change the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Full or Part Time shifts available (8 or 16 hour shifts). Day Program and Group Home availability - WEEKENDS A MUST . All schedules are permanent and will vary depending on applicant's availability. All meals supplied as part of your benefits package during your shift.


Group Home: Hours vary but follow 8 hour shift guidelines weekends 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (lunch included); 4:00 pm - 12:00 am (dinner included); and 12:00 am - 8:00 am (awake hours with breakfast included). Employees may work 16 hours shifts in group homes and can potentially work 40 hours in three (3) days, thus working 3 days on and 4 days off. Weekend shifts may be required including Sundays.


Day Program: Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and are full time. LUNCH IS INCLUDED

Pay Rate/Benefits:$23.75 to start. Separate bonuses may be paid throughout the year depending on experience, shifts worked and work ethic throughout the year. Meals during all shifts worked are included from the first shift worked as part of the overall package. All employees will start at $21.05 per hour until they are fully trained in Medication Administration, CPR/FA, Crises Training, Abuse and Neglect Training, Driver's Certification, and Overview of Developmental Disabilities Training, at that time, rate will be increased to $22.75- $23.75 per hour with possible bonus achievement. If you possess all these trainings (and they are up to date), your rate will start at $23.75 per hour with additional bonus potential. Sign on bonus is available once per lifetime. Medical, Dental, Vision, and AFLAC Benefits are available, some with agency contribution as well as our 401k with company MATCH contributions. All available only 90 days after hire.

Due to State Guidelines, all Employees must be 18 years or older, possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, willing to undergo a physical by a licensed physician with a drug screen and TB test, and a valid New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania Driver's License.
